Built with Natural Timber, Mountain Stone & Valley Mist
We created Maison Ella to be an intimate sanctuary, quiet, grounded, and deeply connected to the rhythm of the central highlands.
Surrounded by century-old organic tea bushes and native montane forest along Passara Road, our retreat was designed to blend naturally into the hillside rather than stand out. We selected honest materials that age gracefully: solid jackfruit and walnut woodwork, hand-hewn local stone masonry, hammered copper fixtures, and wide panoramic windows that frame the shifting mountain mist throughout the day.
With only three private villas, you will never feel like a room number here. Our small, dedicated team of local hosts, most of whom grew up in the surrounding mountain villages, take genuine pride in making you feel right at home, whether that means lighting a warm hearth in the evening, packing a breakfast picnic for your hike, or showing you how we hand-pick tea leaves on the hillside.
Life on the Estate
The quiet rituals, natural materials, and personal touches that define every stay.
Morning Mist & Mountain Panoramas
Every villa is oriented toward the sunrise over Ella Rock and the gorge. Watch the clouds rise through the valley while sipping your first cup of single-estate coffee on your private timber deck or soaking in the heated stone plunge pool.
- Unobstructed sunrise views across Ella Rock and the tea terraces
- Private cantilevered timber sun decks with daybeds
- Year-round heated outdoor stone plunge pools
Working Organic Tea Garden
Our hillside is planted with organic Ceylon tea bushes. We hand-pick our own tea leaves and brew fresh single-estate black, green, and white teas across the retreat for an authentic estate-to-cup ritual.
- Private tea plucking walk with our resident tea master
- Fresh loose-leaf tea selections in every residence
- Daily afternoon Ceylon high tea served on your terrace
Sanctuary of Wood, Stone & Copper
Crafted with high vaulted jackfruit ceilings, hand-cut stone fireplaces, hand-hammered copper soaking tubs, and custom four-poster teak beds dressed in pure linen.
- Wood-burning fireplaces with evening firewood turn-down
- Freestanding hand-beaten copper bathtubs and stone rain showers
- Organic botanical bath amenities infused with lemongrass & sandalwood
Discreet & Unhurried Hospitality
Because we host only three parties at any time, our team attends to every detail at your pace, from booking scenic train transfers to organizing secret walking trails and candlelit terrace dining.
- Dedicated personal villa host for meals, luggage, and guidance
- Tailored private hiking routes avoiding tourist crowds
- Direct 24/7 WhatsApp concierge contact with the management team
Home-Cooked Highland Cuisine
Fresh ingredients sourced from our kitchen garden and surrounding mountain farmers.
Dining at Maison Ella is honest, unhurried, and generous. Breakfast is cooked to order each morning. Choose between a traditional Sri Lankan breakfast of egg hoppers, pol sambol, and dhal, or farm-fresh eggs, tropical fruit platters, and warm sourdough with estate jams.
In the evening, enjoy dinner by candlelight on the open timber terrace or in the privacy of your villa deck. Our chef prepares authentic clay pot curries, grilled fish, fresh highland salads, and seasonal desserts.
